CONCEPT: Digital Animation: Promote Watts tower as a place for the locals the to take advantage of the community facilities. This a place where Cal Arts Community Arts Department presents animation and computer workshops. The idea is to use the advertisement to promote in a more Guerrilla art format. Guerrilla, art center, artifact, youth education and future. Great idea that utilizes the extra curricula activities at the center and has soo much potential. DESIGN: You started off well really well and then it seems you stopped short. Was it that you didn’t know where to go? Or was is just I don’t care? Your idea of the digital pixilation is good but I don’t think you have pushed it hard enough. There is also an issue with the address that is blocked off down the bottom and has a huge amount of unnecessary attention. You could have included several different grays and there should have been a bit more variety in the squares – look at the negative space and the squares could have made lines with your negative space. Then there might have been a dialogue between line and shape and rectangle not just the square. Also you need to pay attention to you leading – the space between lines of type – look at the relationship between design and your then the your and FUTURE. The g in design makes the space look smaller. The body text at the bottom should be justified right or justified left. Not both with different ragged edges. Sorry there is so much you could have done with the layout, I can’t accept the notes that you are sick of looking at it. Do some collages. Come to class and show your work then we could discuss and play with the layout. Honestly I do not think this really follows David Carson Designs or the Guerrilla ideas that you had, what about your target market? BLOG: It is all a bit confusing. John Ross has done a straight forward layout, simple and well edited. Also you need to write your statement next to your final, describing your intent for the final visual. I also want to know who Your designer is and see some examples so we can reference your layout. PRESENTATION: Where were you? You have mounted it well, but this is a studio class where interaction from other students, personal presentation are all part of your grade.
